Instructors will present two days of intensive hands on midwifery training from very general skills such as gloving and sterile technique to more complicated skills such as I.V. Therapy to catheterization and suturing. Learn from some of the most experienced midwives how to use this knowledge while still trusting birth and practicing in a non-interventive way. A2 — Midwifery Management of Neonatal Resuscitation (515 min; Catalina, 80; $200) — Karen Strange
Are you aware of how to evaluate which newborns need resuscitation? Karen Strange will answer these questions and provide hands on teaching and opportunity for you to understand the transitional physiology for resuscitation in the OUT OF HOSPITAL setting. Her course is unique in that it discusses the latest research on neonatal resuscitation from the baby’s perspective and discusses the imprint that resuscitation may leave. This course, in it thoroughness, goes far beyond positive pressure ventilation and mouth to mouth techniques. The relationship between physiology, psychology and the hormones of birth are explained to grant greater appreciation and understanding of the critical moments of labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period.
